Chuck McConnell’s professional racing career started with
SCCA in 1963 racing a Porsche Spider purchased from Vasek Polak.

Subsequently, he sold the Porsche to
acquire a McLaren MkII and raced in the celebrated Can Am series between 1969-1971.

He switched to become team-manager for Conti Racing in ’82 where John Morton drove the center-seat Frisbee pictured here.  Then in late ’82, Chuck donned his racing helmet again to compete in IMSA/GTO racing a Camaro and Porsche GTO.

Finally, in 1986 he purchased the Frisbee featured here, drove it once in 1987 at Willow Springs and today continues to successfully campaign the car in Historic Race events.

The Car:
1981 Lola Frisbee

Originally, the Frisbee was put together and raced by John Morton during
the 1981-82 Can Am center-seat era.  Using an F-5000 Lola T333C chassis and body design by Brad
Frisselle, the car weighs only 1500 pounds, incorporates, what was considered revolutionary at the time, innovative aerodynamic ground effects.
The engine is a 5 Liter Chevy V8 built by master engine guru Dean Sellars and
puts out 560 BHP and 600 ft pounds of torque!  Gearing is a 5 speed Hewland GG300.
