"It's a beast. If I had to compete in it, I'd have to go test so I knew something about it. Right now I'm driving it the way it is."

The Video

Bobby Rahal guest drivers for owner Todd Smathers in the powerful Lola T310, being campaigned here at the 2008 Monterey Historics.

The Car:
1972 Lola T310 (HU01)

Chassis HU01 was raced exclusively by David Hobbs in the 1972 Can-Am Challenge Cup. His best results were a fourth at Watkins Glen and two fifths at the Edmonton and Riverside rounds. Carl Haas sold the car at the end of the season and the subsequent owners raced it for several more years.

Jerry Hansen managed to race it to victory in a minor event late in 1972.
In recent years the car has been fully restored to its original 1972 guise and frequently raced by its current owner. He is seen here in action at the 2007 Monterey Historic Races. The T310 is also seen the following year when Indy-legend Bobby Rahal drove it to victory.
